In a day and age when we can learn everything and do anything, we often do nothing. We scroll and a few minutes here and there soon add up to years spent online and we’re waking up a decade later and wondering where the time went. We were inspired, and yet did nothing. We gained unlimited access to knowledge but never learned to sit with our emotions. We perfected our routines and optimized our productivity, but forgot how to be silent and still. What was the rush, anyway? Why did we need to shop for socks while pushing our kids on the swing at the park? When did a sunset get so boring that we had to scroll our phones while taking an evening walk? What was so urgent that we had to look at our phones instead of looking at our spouses while they shared how their day went?

Afraid of missing out on life, we carried a tiny super computer in our pocket, hoping that the constant accessibility would create community and connection. But the irony is that instead, we became increasingly disconnected from the people around us, nature, our Creator, and ourselves.

Technology has a place, absolutely, but that place is not in our hands at all times. Instead, let’s hold something worthwhile. Worth your while.
